In both videos, Anderson’s signature style prevails. The characters even get distinctive names that align with the filmmaker’s writing quirks. For example, Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man is reduced to “Man.” Similarly, Tom Holland’s Spider-Man is referred to as “Spider.” While there are still fantastical elements at play, such as Thanos retaining his purple, hulking design, it seems that an Anderson-directed “Avengers” would be stripped back and nuanced, less interested in cosmic chaos and more invested in the relations between the heroes and villains.
As fantastic as this concept is, it’s unlikely that Anderson will ever direct an MCU project. He has notably stayed in his own lane, pursuing standalone movies he’s interested in. Despite never making a big-budget studio tentpole, the filmmaker has worked with several actors who appear in the MCU, including Tony Revolori, Jeff Goldblum, Jude Law, and Tilda Swinton, among many others.
