DCU Fans Can’t Unsee Melissa Barrera As The Best Gal Gadot Replacement
In an interview with ComicBookMovie.com following the release of the 2022 “Scream,” Melissa Barrera was asked if she’d consider switching to superhero mode and trying out a comic book movie. “I mean, never say never, right? I feel like it’s cool, but I also have other things in mind for my career,” admitted Barrera, who also shared the same view that the likes of Christopher Nolan and Martin Scorsese have repeatedly gained heat over. “I love superhero movies, but I also feel like they’ve kind of taken over the industry. I think we need variety. I think we need other things, as well, to maintain a balance in the universe.” Sure, which doesn’t sound comic book-y at all, right?
Whether fans want her as Wonder Woman or not, there’s no confirmation of whether Diana Prince will appear in the new DCU anyway. The only possible avenue by which she could even be mentioned would be “Paradise Lost,” one of the many TV shows set in the DC Universe. The issue here is that it’s set in Themyscira years before she’s even born. For now, fans can only hope that enough noise has been made to put Barrera on Gunn’s radar and that a former Final Girl could become the next Wonder Woman, after all.
