Do You Need To Watch The Previous Movies First?

“Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes” is shaping up to be one of 2024’s most exciting summer flicks. While Caesar fans will be disappointed by the plot of “Kingdom,” critics absolutely adore the brand-new film. As of this writing, the release boasts an 83% on Rotten Tomatoes. Praising the picture for its action sequences and striking visuals, Looper’s review gave “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes” a solid 7/10. And with box office projections suggesting the film will open north of $50 million domestically, it’s fair to say that audiences are hyped for this one.

With everyone in a frenzy to check the latest film out, many might not have the time to watch every film Wes Ball suggests, which is why they should read Looper’s full-length guide that explains the entire “Planet of the Apes” timeline.

Those who have time on their hands and watch to watch the films Ball recommends won’t have much trouble doing so. The 1968 film “Planet of the Apes,” which started it all, is available to watch with a Hulu subscription. The same goes for every film in the reboot trilogy, which includes “Rise,” “Dawn,” and “War.” In fact, every single “Apes” movie is available to watch on Hulu, meaning fans hoping to catch up on the franchise lore don’t have to jump from streaming service to streaming service. “Dawn” and “War,” which close off the reboot trilogy, are also available on Max.

“Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes” hits theaters on May 10.
