Jared Leto’s New Tron 3 Set Video Teases A Huge Change
From “The Matrix” to “Inception” to “Tron,” the regular issue that heroes encounter when they’re in a world outside their own is that if they die in that one, they die in the one they came from, too. Factoring that in, could Leto’s Ares — who was once an inhabitant of The Grid — now be a fully-fledged human, and therefore at risk of injury and a bloody perma-death given his new surroundings? It would certainly make sense, but what’s even more interesting is what add-ons Ares could bring into this landscape from the one he left behind.
To think of “Tron” is to see neck-and-neck light cycle chases and people getting turned into cubes when a spinning neon frisbee hits them. However, might “Tron: Ares” mix things up and have its escaped program bring some of those iconic elements over to the real world? Watching police cars get hit with a light trail from Leto on a light cycle sure would make for a great set piece and might explain why he takes a mild kicking but keeps on ticking. We’ll see if he reaches the end of the game when “Tron: Ares” starts up in theatres on October 10, 2025.
