One thing “Deadpool” gets right besides Ryan Reynolds proving just how much of a perfect fit he is for the character is the simple inclusion of CGI eyes on the Merc with a Mouth’s mask without a mouth. Seeing it emote as much as it does makes Wade all the more watchable, and it set a standard that reappeared on both Peter Parker’s Spider-Man (Tom Holland) and Steven Grant and Marc Spector’s Moon Knight (Oscar Isaac) costumes.
If the same is repeated with Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine costume, it should surely get a trend turning elsewhere with other heroes. Batman could become even more intense and appear as he does in the comics in Andy Muschietti’s “The Brave and the Bold.” Hal Jordan could wear a comics-accurate domino mask on “Lanterns.” For now, we’ll just have to wait and see how things look for Wolverine when he returns in “Deadpool 3” on July 26, 2024.
