Everyone Is Binging This 2014 Comedy Flop On Netflix Right Now

As of this writing, a decade has passed since the release of “Dumb and Dumber To.” Both Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels have worked on and starred in a variety of projects, and the “Dumb and Dumber” sequel has largely fallen into obscurity. Still, the first film remains a comedy classic, and, evidently, Netflix subscribers have some interest in its continuation, even though it flopped years ago. Therefore, one has to ask, given the popularity of such projects, can fans expect a legacy sequel of the 2014 “Dumb and Dumber” legacy sequel? It doesn’t seem likely.

In response to online rumors that a third Carrey and Daniels-led “Dumb and Dumber” movie could be on the horizon, The New York Post spoke to Daniels himself to get the full story. In the April interview, the actor made it abundantly clear that no such project is in active development. “I talk to Jim occasionally. We’re still great friends. I have no idea where he is. None of this happens if Jim doesn’t want it to happen,” he said, noting that he hasn’t heard anything about a new “Dumb and Dumber” movie. Carrey has also notably explained that he’s not much of a fan of sequels, hence why his return for “Sonic 3” marks a major first in his 43-year career.

Perhaps someday another “Dumb and Dumber” tale will reach the silver screen, but for the time being, fans can at least get in on the “Dumb and Dumber To” renaissance on Netflix.
